The Homestead is in the Aurora area, that boasts shops, restaurants and vineyards, an opera house, concert hall and fine arts center. The Homestead, built in 1854, was the estate of a founder of the City of Plano, Illinois. Architecturally described as an Italianate country cottage it is located on two acres at the edge of this small town and just minutes from the international icon of modern architecture, the Farnsworth House, designed by Mies van der Rohe, that is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
