While biking, or perhaps on a bike tour, along the Grand Illinois Bike Trail let the Illinois Bed and Breakfast Association assist you with finding lodging convenient to your trek. This bicycling trail is 500-600 miles of trails and roads from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River and back again in a large circle. This trail takes those cycling or hiking through large cities and rural towns. This trail has been built through partnerships with organizations and communities to create a long interconnected route, and the resulting variety in terrain and trail locations has something for every cyclist.
The trail has been divided into eighteen sections for ease of trip planning, and ten recommended routes are available. Informative signs along the trail include maps, historical and geographical information, as well as what visitors can expect from the section of trail that they are currently traveling.
Because of the great distance of this trail, travelers will experience diverse wildlife and meet a variety of residents in the towns and cities.
The League of Illinois Bicyclists holds an annual week-long ride along the Grand Illinois Bike Trail in June.
