Danforth, a Perfect Small-town Getaway
Whether you seek getaway lodging at a quiet Central Illinois bed and breakfast, or you are simply stopping on your way through Illinois, Danforth welcomes you to our town!
Located in the eastern part of Iroquois County, Danforth is a perfect example of small-town charm among the vast Illinois farmlands. A quiet community, Danforth is home to small local businesses, and transportation and agricultural interests. We are located just 90 minutes to both Bloomington to the southwest and the Greater Chicago area to the north.
Danforth, and the surrounding area, offer a wide variety of activities ideal for almost any interest.
Just 15 minutes to the east is the Iroquois River. Its 2′-4′ depth in our area is perfect for kayakers and canoeists. If you care to fish, you may catch catfish, bluegill, bass, pike, walleye, bullhead, or crappie.
If you enjoy picturesque drives, you may enjoy the Barn Quilts of Kankakee County tour, just to our north. Fifty barns throughout the county feature unique 10′ x 10′ quilt squares… and more are added each year!
Is music and theater your thing? Just 20 minutes to the east is Sugar Creek Symphony & Song, a non-profit musical theater organization in Watseka. Each year, at least one major production and several events are offered at either their headquarters in Watseka or their theater in Clifton (just 10 minutes north of Danforth).
Nearby Momence offers the Gladiolus Festival each August. Enjoy carnival rides, parades, live music and entertainment, car show, antique tractor & classic truck show, and the Flea, Craft and Antique Market! Adult beverages are available each evening of the festival.
Central Illinois is the home of a unique drive-in movie theater experience at the Harvest Moon in nearby Gibson City! Two screens present two HD Digital features per night, April through September, no matter what the weather.
Sports fans love having access to the Chicago Bears Summer Training Camp in Bourbonnais, just 35 miles to the north. The team gives free access to its training season between mid-July and mid-August, providing a completely affordable pro-football experience!
With the warm welcome that only a small-town can offer, Danforth member inns of the Illinois Bed and Breakfast Association hope you will enjoy your visit to Central Illinois!
