The Heartland Rivers Wine Trail meanders through Southwest Illinois, offering visitors a delicious sample of this area’s wines.
From dry reds and the most popular sweet country wines to dessert wines, local wineries have mastered the art of winemaking that was brought over from Europe with Illinois’ original settlers. There are twelve wineries along this trail, ranging in size from small to medium, and each one is distinctive and unique.
Visitors traveling through this Southwest IL trail will enjoy the diversity of the area. This route meanders through open fields of farmland and the Mississippi River Valley, offering breathtaking views along the river’s bluffs. Visitors will pass through many charming communities, each offering something different along their Main Street area, from dining to shopping to antiques: there are treasures to be found around every corner. Along the St. Louis Metro East area, visitors can enjoy vibrant nightlife and entertainment, shopping, and numerous museums.
